We’ve been talking about James Bond and ‘No Time To Die’ for a while now and finally the movie is out in the cinemas and has been for the past few weeks. For petrol heads like us at Leasing Options we wanted to know one thing above all others, what cars are going to be in the movie. Ever since ‘Dr. No’ in 1962, where Sean Connery was driving the Sunbeam Alpine, Bond has been synonymous with driving the coolest cars of the time.
Now ‘No Time To Die’ has been in the cinemas for a few weeks now we thought it would be interesting to see how many cars you can name from the movie.
(Scroll down to the bottom for the answers!)
There were a lot of cars in the movie and like most of the bond movies it’s a chance for sponsoring car manufacturers to show off their latest models. In this one though we did see the return of some classics too but one question remains…
The first car on the list and the first one we see Bond drive is the old faithful Aston Martin DB5. This is a fan favorite amongst all of his famous cars and has been featured in ‘Gold Finger’ (1964), ‘Thunderball’ (1965), ‘Golden Eye’ (1995), ‘Casino Royal’ (2006), ‘Skyfall’ (2012), ‘Spectre’ (2015) and finally ‘No Time to Die’ (2021). Not in every film has Bond been driving the DB5 but it has appeared in some way in all of those films. After appearing in another movie this might bump it up the rankings of the most lethal Bond.
The second picture was of the Land Rover Defender and although it didn’t have all that much screen time it was a big event and movie debut for the model. What made the Defender stand out was that one of the cars used in filming went on tour around Land Rover dealerships so people could see the real car, this is where the photo above was taken!
The third picture was a difficult one, the DBS Superleggera. The car was not in the movie for that long but for that brief time it sure did make an impact. This is the sort of thing we expect from a Bond movie and whenever a new one comes out we always expect the latest Aston and this one did not disappoint.
One car that was featured that was not meant to get much attention was this 90s Toyota Land Cruiser. Where some of the more spectacular cars like the DBS Superleggera did not see much action this one lived up to its reliable reputation and did a phenomenal job in a pretty intense car chase.
Number 5 was a difficult one as you only saw it briefly in the background with the silhouette of M walking in front of it. Spotting this car and being able to name it will separate the car fanatics from the car fans. The Valhalla which also known as the “Son of Valkyrie” is a super-hybrid due in 2024 and there will only be 999 of them made. The price is expected to be around the £1,000,000 mark.
Question 6 was none other than the Range Rover Sport SVR. These were the chase vehicles used in the epic scenes with the Toyota Land Cruiser and its breaks our heart to see them get flipped over and destroyed the way they do. Packing 575hp though they make the perfect chase vehicles for any villain.
Next up for question 7 we had the new Jaguar XF. ‘No Time To Die’ was the perfect opportunity for Jaguar to debut their latest iteration of the ever popular Jaguar model. In the movie we see is chase Bond through the thin Italian streets and handle really well which Jaguar claim was a great demonstration of the “exceptional performance and exhilarating driving dynamics.
Number 8 was a car that got probably the least amount of screen time but did seem to get a decent share of the screen and focus for this brief moment. The car was effectively an extra that stood out in comparison to other background cars and was easily spotted in the signature red in the middle of a chase scene. With it being such a classic and loved model we felt it only fair for it get an honorable mention as one of the cars from the movie.
Last up was the Aston Martin V8 MkIV. Aston Martin have said on Twitter that in the movie they wanted something to represent the past, present and future of the brand. This was one of the 4 different Aston Martins used in the movie and falls into the past category. However, we feel it that the DB5 and the V8 MkIV fall into two different parts of Aston Martins history and when you look at all 4 models used it shows the evolution of the brand which has also grown alongside the movie franchise.
So, how many did you get right? And which was your favorite? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and share it with your friends to see how many they got right too.
